I bought the this to coordinate with some YSS prints, but I ended up making a solid black swimsuit which became my most worn suit by far. It has held up exceptionally well to a summer of chlorine and sun. As with the other YSS options, the texture and thickness of the solid black makes it a great option for a wide range of projects.

The Black YSS is a customer favorite. They love how it looks and feels. I’ve had requests to make workout tights as well as everyday leggings from this fabric because it is really versatile. It really works well for a variety of projects because of the weight of the fabric and how it drapes.

One of my first knit sewing projects was a pair of bike length peg legs out of black YSS. They don’t ride up, are squat proof (I sized up ever so slightly by ignoring the seam allowance), and definitely protect from the sun (had a crisp burn line, oops). The fabric was wonderful to work with, but I found I had to use a few extra pins from my woven projects.

I will not make myself a swimsuit with anything otherthan Z&Q yss EVER. This base is even higher quality than the most expensive suits I’ve had to order from a catalog, and I can even get a custom fit. The price might seem high per yard, but when you can get a custom sized swimsuit with a print or solid you like in this high quality of material for under $30, I cannot see a downside.
